Hmm I have uploaded this as a single file on Google Video but apparently that's being very crap right now so for now I will post up the YouTube videos that I have uploaded to that, so yeah as soon as Google Video pulls it's finger out, it will have to be done this way. I will be uploading Canvas in a few days, it will go in two different locations, Google Video and YouTube. The YouTube version will have to be split into three parts though.

Yes we have finished, well the final cut of it. We will be working on the DVD over the next few days and plan to put a bit of commentary, and a music only version of the film which is a bit more like a skate film.

I will also be putting up as high as possible quality version of it online and most likely onto Google video, since its 25mins long, I will have to put it up in three parts.

It would nice to be see what people think of it and we will probably be sending out a few copies to skateboard mags and even extreme channel, to see what they say about it.

And we will let everyone know what they said about it. hehe they will have to say something good then or people will see they aren't nice. it's almost like non-discriminatorymail

Sound Piece Tester

Sound piece test with music and attempting to get other the opinions visually. Maybe that is a little biased on our part though. Thinking about just have it a nice relaxed B&W footage. Since the actual footage isn't bursting with colour, we were in Rugby after all, even the grass was grey!

Looking at what we have so far I am pretty confident the video will hopefully impress you all. I know Adam has been working his socks off trying to perfect the video, spending majority of his time on it. Yes we are missing a very important aspect of the video (the audio) but we should have them up soon so keep looking for updated versions and Adam, keep doing what you're doing!

Covs' 1st Minute

Two posts in one day, haha, I am feeling the pressure. So I have done the first minute today. It's taken me about 5 hours. It's all the split screen and the colouring and stuff. Lining up shots and getting the timing correct is very hard work.

Putting it up because I dont want to do an entire section and someone say to me that they dont like it. I would kill them.

Oh yeah and I haven't done too much with sound levels yet so sorry about that.

This is the first 10mins of the rough cut. It is still missing the audio interviews but we hope to have them all in the film by Monday. Looking forward to having it done and also working towards getting it on DVD showing everyone. Two weeks...Not long left now.

Corby Rough Cut

This is the rough cut for SS20 and the Corby section, filmed at the Adrenaline Alley. I am pleased with it. Took a bit longer than the first one (London) I am not a massive fan of vert skating but it is the favourite of the two with the group, with new understanding of why. Answers on a postcard.

This one, I would say is slightly rougher than London but then again I was luckier with the footage from there as it needed less work, ho hum, noone said it would be easy.

Music is by Jet Pilot Audio and you can find a link to their myspace just to the side so if you are interested in hearing more from them check that out.

We have started shooting our Coventry / Kong footage. Got some great stuff, those guys have some real talented skaters on their hands and hopefully they and Kong themselves will go far in the future.

I recently joined a UK website called SkateBook and found a band by the name of Jet Pilot Audio. I heard Kong vs Godzilla Showdown and knew we had to use it for a section of the film. Luckily for us the band are a nice bunch of people and have allowed us to use the track.

Make sure you check out their myspace and expect a link soon. I think I will be using the song for the Corby section, so expect some footage of that other the weekend as I work on that.

Slac B on board

I have just recieved a confirmation e-mail from Leeds artist, Slac B (www.myspace.com/defendersofstyle), who says that he will let us use some of his music within our film. I've listened to a few tracks on his MySpace page and they sound wicked - real, chilled out hiphop beats that would be perfect for the graffiti section as well as a number of the skating sections.

I will get in contact with him within the next couple of days and see if he has any MP3's that he could send to me to see which parts of the footage they go best with.

Graffiti Test

I do love making test footage, just trying out different ways of making the footage we capture look different from other bits of footage already floating about. Well Drew and Mo shot this time lapse footage today (or yesterday, technically) and I know the guys from PDS want to see it. So although this isn't the the final thing it's nice to see it anyway. Right I am far too drunk to stay up any longer adios mu chachos (mate, dunno if that is how you spell it at all ahaha!)

PDS Filming

Drew and myself went down to Rugby to film the graffiti section of the film with the PDS lads. The weather was awesome so any hope of rain was diminished by the sun. We met the lads and they showed us what they were going to spray for us and we were both happy with what they had designed. This section was to be time lapsed to show the creation on 'Canvas' paintwork on the wall. It was a long process for the guys to do what they had to but the end product was awesome. I'd like to say another thank you to the lads for their time and help, the group and myself appreciate the hard work and effort that was put in to it. Thanks again lads and we should be putting some images and footage up shortly so keep checking the site for the new additions. Also we should be filming the Kong lads tomorrow so really looking forward to that.

Kong filming Thursday 24th

Ah the one we have been waiting for. We will be filming the Kong guys, who have been one of the biggest assets to the making of this film over anyone else. I am really looking forward to this. I dont know what my personal role will be just yet but I am hoping to get some great footage, we have been promised some talented skaters so now it is just our turn to do them justice.

The sound piece should hopefully be done tomorrow, and I hope to see some footage by the end of the week. Once everything is shot I think I will post up the film format for those of you who are interested in seeing how the film will flow.

All in all the film is feel really positive, and we feel positive that we can make inspire and entertain those who do skateboard and to inform and educate those who dont, about the ways in which skateboarding has affected those who do, and try and express skateboarding more as an artfrom rather than as a means of annoying people in towns.

We need to distinguish the difference between skateboarders, those who cause trouble and never have a true feel for what skating is and those that have done it for years that live skateboarding, we also want to show the whole array of opinions have about skateboarding and also express how graffiti is a part of skateboarding and how there are two sides of graffiti, those that simply tag their names and those that create works of art legally.

Rough Cut

The rough cut it looking very good and has already had over 2,000 views on youtube which is positive news for us. Further additions to the film will be shortly added . Drew and myself will be filming the graffiti artist on Tuesday and recording some short interviews. We have contacted various musicians about using their music we had found via myspace so just awaiting further confirmation and actual hard copies of the material. We will keep you updated about the next shoot!

Canvas: London Rough Cut

So here is the first rough cut, and I would like to point out rough, of course if everyone loves it, then it's near final haha, but it is missing it's interview audio which will go over the quieter areas of the video.

Had to make it slightly shorter because I was simply running out of footage, we shot loads but some of it was unusable, some just didn't fit and the rest is pretty much in the video.

Anyhow, feedback would be much appreciated as I am about to start work on the Corby footage if I can find some sound for it. Not really sure what music we want for it yet, will talk to Drew he is kind of our music skate video expert.

London and Animation in general test footage

Ok worked on this today, my new laptop is a beast, it was able to convert a gigs worth of video in about 30 seconds, which on my old laptop would have taken two hours, hillarious.

This might be how the footage to the London section as the footage before it is stylised the same way using skaters from Rugby. There was a very crude version that I put up sometime ago, titled 'Animation Tests' of Drew skating.

Here is a closer version of what the finished product could look like, comments and opinions much appreciated.

Cutting Pink with knives comes to Canvas

Ah so we now have a bit more music to add on the video, Cutting Pink with Knives, an odd mix of heavy punk/metal vocals with pop electro beats. It's yet another unique blend of music that we feel will feel right at home on the film.

On a different note, this weekend I plan to work on a rough cut of the London section, I have now captured about 50% of the footage we have shot so far and later today I will start putting it together, although I may do a London teaser first and upload that.

It seems Canvas is starting to feel like it could be a cool film about skateboarding, it feels more down to earth using the average skater, the tricks might not be the most mind blowing but it makes me want to skate more than other skate footage, makes me hope I could do some of those tricks haha!

PDS, Kong Team & SMS

Everything is sorted for Wednesday's shoot in Rugby. We've confirmed a meeting with a member of the infamous PDS crew who will help us in the creation of our opening sequence (watch this space!) amongst other things.

I met up with DJ Addiction (www.myspace.com/djaddictionswerve), a massive name in the drum'n'bass business, who has hooked us up with the Kong skate team to film in Coventry next week. He's been a massive help in the production of this video so far and we'll discuss any tunes of his that we can use in the film closer to the time.

Also, I have spoken to one of Leed's hottest new, up-and-coming drum'n'bass producers, SMS (www.myspace.com/smsslacman), who seems keen to take part in the video. His fresh and unique, vibrant sound should suit the video well, we just have to watch out for any uncleared samples that might get us in trouble!

Progress of production

Over the last few days we have been looking over the footage we filmed at Corby with the SS-20 lads and time coding. We have some pretty neat footage of the skaters as you may have seen from the teaser Adam has put together. The actual day at Corby went pretty smooth and we have endless footage of skaters doing their thing.

Next week we will hopefully be filming a skater from the Midlands and using the footage as part of an animation.

Penfold on board

I have spoken to Mr Penfold, a graphic artist famed for his drum'n'bass flyers (these can be seen on his MySpace page, www.myspace.com/gresh) who has said that he is up for taking part in the film. I will get in contact with him in the near future to discuss more about the film but am pleased with all of the big names that we now have on the video. Watch this space for more from Penfold!

Ok so today as a group we looked ove rthe footage and began timecoding it, and checking over the footage to see what it is like, and I have to say that some of it looks really good.

Both the London footage and the SS-20 looks great and I am looking forward to editing them. Once I get the right equipment that is.

So this was only going to be a short update as I know a few people are waiting to see footage of SS-20, I promise I will have it done soon.

No Skindred

I got word back from Bierler Bros. Skindred's record label and although they were happy for us to use the song it came with a hefty price tag of $1000 or £505 in native currency.

That's just a price we cannot afford to pay since this entire film has been self financed anyway.

So I will start to look for some new music for the SS-20 section, I am pretty sure that SS-20's section will be the first one we will work on so look out for the rough cut within the next week or two.
